Sixth form students will get a taste of university life on a double decker bus from Anglia Ruskin University.

The roadshow bus will visit St Angela’s and St Bonaventure’s Sixth Form in Forest Gate on Tuesday as part of an outreach and recruitment drive by the university which has campuses across east England. It aims to help young people make the right choices ahead of progressing into Higher Education.

A team from the university will host a series of talks and workshops on issues such as choosing the right course, developing skills for academic success, and managing student finances. Current students from the university will also be available to offer advice.

The bus features a lounge downstairs where students could relax and find out more about life at university. The top deck includes a mock-up student kitchen and bedroom to give students a feel of what it is like to live on-campus.

The striking exterior of the bus offers an artist’s impression of Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses and was designed by an Anglia Ruskin graduate.

Emma Seward, Outreach & Recruitment Officer at Anglia Ruskin, said: “These young people are approaching a crossroads in their lives and it is important they make the correct decision on how to go forward.

“The bus offers visitors a taste of what life at university is like and is a relaxed and friendly environment for students to ask questions about Higher Education. We are visiting more than 30 schools during the summer tour alone and are thrilled that we have this opportunity to speak to so many students, teachers and parents.”
