Two University of East London students embarked on the trip of a lifetime to an elite new institution in Kenya to discuss how they could work together to improve the environment.

Ardit Ndoka and Catherine Muteti travelled to the Managemnt University of Africa, based in Nairobi, as part of the Global Scholars Programme.

Ardit and Catherine endeavoured to secure a partnership to solve issues including the problem of domestic waste and litter in Nairobi which they plan to combat by establishing a cross-organisational research team.

During the week-long visit, the students visited the Nairobi Aviation College where they chaired a guest lecture and held talks with the principle manager and owner Peter Manyuru about the possibility of licensing UEL courses when the Kenyan college comes online.

The students, who Mr Manyuru asked to “come again and again”, said they found the experience “empowering and an essential tool for employability skills.”
