Staff and pupils at a school in Forest Gate honoured a much-loved site manager by naming a new building after her.
Last week (Tues Oct 2), Elmhurst Primary School in Upton Lane Road opened ‘The Dixon Wing’, a new extension named after Maxine Dixon for her huge contribution to the project and her popularity around the school.
Governors, teachers, pupils, the architect, and headteacher Shahed Ahmed surprised Maxine with a box of chocolates and a specially-made cake before allowing her to cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque with her name on it.
Deputy headteacher Sukwinder Samra: “Maxine operates in a very male world and she does it very effectively.
“She’s very efficient, very hands on as well, and we’re very lucky to have her.”
