Pupils at Drew Primary School in Silvertown have been getting lessons on the benefits of recycling.
Locally run Orion Support Services, has visited the school to get youngsters to think about the environment.
A competition was launched for all pupils to come up with bold, attention-grabbing designs for its refuse truck. The results will be revealed at the school on June 15.
John Stride, managing director at Orion, said: βI wanted our vehicles to stand out from the others on the streets of London and thought that this was the perfect solution.
The contest was spilt into two categories, for Years 3 to 4 and Years 5 to 6.
Mary Wilson, teacher at Drew Primary School, added: βIt is great to teach the children about recycling and to get them thinking about what they can do to help the environment whilst at school and at home.β
