A programme to help at risk young people is being rolled out in Newham.
Run by youth organisation Grit, Newham College, Newham Training and Education Centre and Prevista Ltd, the three-year scheme aims to increase self-esteem in disadvantaged young people.
Over the three years, the programme will see 1,000 adults, along with trained youth coaches, support 500 young people in building their personal development.
Grit programmes are designed to make young people change the way they think about themselves through workshops and one to one coaching. Grit, formerly Youth at Risk, works with young people in schools, prisons and community groups to help build their self-esteem.
The scheme asks local adults to volunteer to run the programmes. Grit will be holding information sessions during November for adults to learn more about the programme and how to get involved.
