Schools across Newham are set to be hit by a one-day strike on Wednesday as teachers march against government changes to their pay and pensions.

It follows a strike by teachers from Avenue Primary last month and national strike action in October last year which saw just three schools in the borough remain open.

Newham Council will not know which schools are likely to be affected until early next week.

Members of the National Union of Teachers are protesting Michael Gove’s bid to introduce performance-related pay and changes to pensions they say will see them pay more, work longer and receive less after retirement.

Check back for updates on which schools will be affected in the coming days.
