Children at a Newham school were told to dream big by Olympic star Christine Ohuruogu during a recent visit to her former primary school.

“Dream big and work hard” was the message the Olympian delivered to the children of West Ham Church School, in Portway, Stratford.

The 2012 silver medallist admitted to nerves on her return to her own primary school where she faced questions from year 6 pupils. The children were in awe as they were shown her gold and silver medals. Christine said that her love of sport had started as early as nursery where she loved to run as fast as she could around the playground.

There was also time during her visit to show a group of children some training tips in the playground. At the end of the visit there was a very long line of children and parents who wanted to meet Christine. Everyone received a personally autographed photo of her.

A spokeswoamn for the schol said the visit had inspired the children and the school would be working to continue the 2012 legacy and values of the games.
