Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre student Saadia Sajid delivered a speech on the importance of democracy at the House of Commons on Friday afternoon.
The borough’s member of youth parliament had the privilege of speaking from the Despatch Box, which is usually reserved for the leader of the opposition.
The 18-year-old, who studies A-level history, politics and economics, tweeted that it was “an absolute privilege to speak at the Despatch Box today – a moment I’ll never forget”.
