Textile designs from four young women have been chosen to go on display at a museum in Essex.
Newham College students Cheila Guerra, 23, from West Ham, Hannah Jarrett, 18, from Ilford, Kimberly Hawmmond, 18, from Greenwich, and Johanna Moloney, 19, from Bexley are having their winning works exhibited at the Braintree District Museum until June 11.
The Fashion Studies students were picked by a professional panel in a contest by the museum, design company CAMAC, and the Warner Textile Archive.
They had to produce a contemporary, textile piece inspired by a work of design history from the Archive and 14 students were shortlisted for consideration from Newham College.
Chris Hall, the college’s fashion and tailoring training manager, said: “We’re proud of our students especially since they demonstrated creativity to do the task and skill to compete with students from all over the British Isles.”
