Second year New VIc college students had the honour of compering an influential awards ceremony.
Ali Mohamed and Matilda Osei played key roles at the LSIS and the National Union of Students’ Learner Voice Awards.
They were asked to introduce each section of the day, such as the workshops and the ceremony.
A level student Ali said: “It was fantastic to see how much appreciated the learner voice is especially beyond our college.
“It really gives me a sense of hope for future students to know that their opinions will count.”
The Learner Voice Awards was held to recognise the importance of getting students’s views on key issues.
Steven Kern, NewVIc’s youth activities leader, congratulated the students.
“Both Ali and Matilda compered the whole day with amazing confidence, professionalism and humour.
“This was the first time that students have hosted the Learner Voice Awards and the fact that NewVIc students were selected to support the event demonstrates how highly thought of our college is.”
