A MOTHER feared her seven-year-old son had been kidnapped after being told by his school that he had gone missing.
Jannette Leahy, 38, of Winsor Park Estate, Beckton, received the false alarm from Gallions Primary School on Thursday following a clerical error, writes LEE PEART.
Ms Leahy said: “I collapsed on hands and knees when they told me. I thought he had been kidnapped.” The distraught mother raced to the school in Warwall, East Beckton, to look for Ibrahim, only to discover he was in class and had not gone missing. Mrs Leahy is pictured with Ibrahim.
Newham Council said “a records mix-up” led to the incident. A spokesman said the error had been swiftly rectified, adding: “The school apologises for any distress and is double-checking the information held on its systems to make sure this does not happen again,” he said.
