The glittering achievements of youngsters across the borough were recognised at an annual awards ceremony.
From budding actors, lifesavers and sports stars to those overcoming hardships and illnesses were celebrated at the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards at Cineworld in the O2 last night.
Students from 23 schools and colleges scooped prizes on the night, acknowledging their astonishing community spirit and talent.
A teenager who has refused to let a health condition hold her back and a quick-thinking sixth-form student who saved a girl’s life in a medical emergency were among those collecting a medallion, to add to the certificate and £200 they had previously received.
Borough Commander Tony Nash said: “Yet again the Jack Petchey Foundation recognises achievement of the young people of Newham.
