GCSE results: Top grades in a fifth of exams at St Bonaventure’s

A fifth of all grades awarded to St Bonaventure’s pupils were A* or A, or their numerical equivalent.

The school, in Boleyn Road, Forest Gate, also saw success in the new English and maths exams, with 89 per cent of pupils achieving grade 4 and above in English and 72pc in maths.

Headteacher Paul Halliwell said: “In a year with great confusion about the new GCSEs I am proud that my students and staff were able to focus on learning and ensure that education was relevant and enjoyable.

“This gave the boys the confidence to approach their examinations with the right frame of mind.“
