Pupils and teachers are celebrating after a young group of spelling experts won top prize in a competition.

Four bright pupils from Winsor Primary School, in East Ham Manor Way, took part in the Newham Spelling Bee competition on Monday.

The youngsters were able to beat 36 other schools to come top in the competition.

Teacher, Victoria Slade, who led the students to victory said the school were “proud” of the young winners.

She said: “Four of our of our children represented Winsor in the Newham Spelling Bee competition.

“The children performed remarkably and as a result of their determination and hard work, they proved themselves to be unbeatable.

“We are delighted to announce that out of the 36 schools that took part in the competition- Winsor was awarded first place.”

She added: “Congratulations team Winsor - we are very proud of you!”
