As many as 200 students at Langdon School boycotted lessons this morning in protest at changes being introduced by their head teacher

The East Ham school which is run by Dr Manuzah Tabassum was closed for two days in early November as teachers union members staged a strike over what they call “oppressive management” and “excessive workload”.

The National Union of Teachers is due to call another two-day strike at the school on November 15 and 16 next week.

Leaflets were distributed at the school opposing the head teacher’s plans to hold exam mocks on the same two dates as well as introducing a one-year GCSE .

The boycotting students were later taken inside by senior teacher. The pupils later made a statement saying they understood why the changes had been introduced at the school. They also expressed regret about their behaviour.
