Hundreds of students mingled with staff and parents at Elmhurst Primary School as they enjoyed a musical party to celebrate the Jubilee.

The children, more than 900, were treated to a special lunch prepared by the school’s cooks as well as jellies and ice creams.

During a special parents assembly the children talked about what it means to be British as they marked diversity at the Forest Gate school which has children from many backgrounds.

It was followed by a party in the huge playground transformed into a sea of colour by rows of tables bearing tasty goodies and laughing children waving flags.
