Actors chose to go to a school in Canning Town to give their first performance of a new play about the dangers of smoking.
Rokeby School, in Canning Town, welcomed the NHS Theatre Forum to their school, a group of students from Newham Sixth Form College (NewVIc), who used different forms of drama to get their message across.
During the play, they used freeze frame situations to answer questions and relay smoking-related facts and figures.
One section was also about shisha pipe smoking which is deceptively harmful.
Jordan Hennessey, one of the pupils in the audience, said: “I learned a lot about the dangers of smoking that I wasn’t previously aware of and I had no idea that smoking shisha was sixty times stronger than smoking a cigarette.”
The NHS No Smoking Theatre Forum are planning a visit to a number of schools in the weeks to come.
