Animal lover Molly Boom organised her own fundraising event to raise money for a local rescue shelter.

Molly, 12, collected donations from family and friends before she embarked on a sponsored walk of three miles around where she lives in Beckton.

In total, she raised £112.89 and she donated the money to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust in Barking Road, Canning Town, which looks after abandoned animals, pets, and neuters them for free.

Former swinging sixties model Celia met young Molly at the centre today to thank her for her generosity.

Molly says she loves animals and, when she’s not taking care of her pet guinea pig and cat, she volunteers at Newham City Farm.

On her charity feat, she said: “I gave myself two weeks to get ready for the walk. I didn’t think it was hard, I thought it was a lot of fun to be honest.”

Multi-talented Molly is also a keen yodeller and she auditioned for ITV talent show Britain’s Got Talent last year.
