A Forest Gate sixth former has been rewarded for returning a wallet crammed with credit cards after spotting it in snow.
Urfan Alam, 18, was walking down an icy Boleyn Road on February 27 when he noticed the wallet on the pavement.
Without a second thought, he took it with him to school at St Bonaventure’s, handing it over to Reception as soon as he arrived.
Receptionist Sonia Norman tracked down the owner from an ID pass found inside, complete with the man’s photo and phone number.
He was so happy to hear the good news he appeared at the school with a £20 reward for the teenager’s kind act.
Urfan, who did not want to be photographed for the article, was “really shy and shocked” to be handed the money, said school receptionist Sonia Norman.
“He felt he was just doing the right thing,” she added.
“I’m really glad we could reunite the wallet with its owner and I’m glad too that Urfan’s good deed didn’t go unnoticed.”
