Pupils from a school in East Ham won a maths competition at City Hall on Tuesday.
As part of the Count on Us challenge, run by the Mayor’s Fund for London, primary and secondary school pupils have been taking part in challenges throughout the year, which culminated in finals at City Hall on July 10.
Langdon Academy was the only school representing Newham – but that’s all that was needed, as pupils took first place.
They beat Dagenham Park School and Norlington School from Waltham Forest, who took second and third.
There were two primary schools from Newham which made the primary school final on July 6 – Nelson Primary and Rosetta Primary.
The winners were Mayflower Primary School from Tower Hamlets, followed by Bellenden Primary in Southwark and Baring Primary in Lewisham taking third.
Count on Us is a numeracy programme which works with schools across the capital, aiming to increase mental arithmetic skills and develop confidence in problem solving.
