The industry-spanning company behind the UK’s largest airline is investing a million pounds into opening a multi-purpose gym in East Ham.

EasyGym, the premium-budget gym concept from EasyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, will transform a 13,000sq ft unit in High Street North into a fully air-conditioned centre, creating more than 20 jobs.

The facility, which will open on May 11, boasts four large fitness zones with all the latest technology options, allowing users to access YouTube, Facebook, email and Google as they work out.

EasyGym offers no-contract prices and will reward customers who join before the gym opens – the first members will pay just £4.99 for their first month.

They will also receive free group personal training on an unlimited basis to help them towards their goals.

EasyGym chief executive Paul Lorimer-Wing said: “Our secret is giving ‘freedom to do more’ at prices that just knock people out, they’re so reasonable.

“EasyGym is challenging the conventions of both the budget and the premium gyms in the same radical way that its sister brand EasyJet transformed air travel”.

Currently operating 11 gyms across the country, seven in London, the group plan to open a further 10 per year for the next five years in the UK, alongside plans to expand throughout Europe.
