A music teacher from East Ham has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest ever drum roll — clocking up an impressive 14-hours worth of continuous drumming.

Pandit Sudarshan Das, 33, raised £890 to help those effected by the Rohingya refugee crisis in Myanmar and Bangladesh. He also plans to travel to Bangladesh himself and perform in two concerts.

His latest record, which he set last week, has taken his tally of world records to three.

However Pandit has described his latest record as his toughest yet. He was rooted to the spot without even being able to go to the toilet.

Last year he played the dhol drum for 27 hours straight and for his first record he played the tabla for nearly 25 days, only pausing for five minutes in every hour.

Pandit said: “I am looking forward to seeing for myself just how my fundraising will make a difference for the children of Rohingya and change lives.”
