MP Stephen Timms, who received Britain’s first official 3G mobile video call, has celebrated its tenth anniversary.
The East Ham MP took the call as the then Minister for Telecommunications under the Labour government in March 2003.
Hosting a reception in Parliament to mark the anniversary Mr Timms said: “Services we now regularly browse on our smartphones like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter have changed the way consumers and businesses in East Ham communicate and share information.
“How we use our mobile phones is almost unrecognisable from what it was ten years ago.”
