East Ham man jailed for sexually assaulting woman in Stepney

A man who sexually assaulted a woman he approached while she was on the phone to her mum has been jailed for 14 months.
Snaresbrook Crown Court how Ismail Abbas Urrade, of Holland Road, East Ham, was drunk in Mile End Road, Stepney, at around noon on Tuesday, June 6.
He approached his victim, a woman in her 20s, and tried to talk to her.
When she told Urrade she was on the phone, he attempted to grab the handset from her.
She went into a nearby shop but Urrade, 29, followed her and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.
With the woman’s help, police were able to locate Urrade nearby and he was arrested.
He was sentenced on Thursday having admitted sexual assault at an earlier hearing.

Det Con As Gutty, who led the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the victim for supporting this investigation and I hope Urrade’s imprisonment gives her some form of closure.”
