Life-long West Ham fan, Russ Williams is the man behind the design of the Betway Man of the Match trophy.

Russ, 56, who grew up in Boleyn Road and learned his trade of metalwork at his dad’s firm, in Stratford has now created a trophy for his be-loved club to celebrate their exciting future at the Olympic Stadium.

The trophy has been inspired by the Thames Ironworks and company owner Arnold Hills, which is also the inspiration behind the all-blue commemorative strip that the players will wear against Juventus today.

He said: “I am a true West Ham boy, so to be approached to design and make the Betway Cup, was a great honour.

“I hope this trophy helps to keep the club’s history and roots alive. And long may that continue at the new stadium.”

West Ham kick-off against Juventus at 1pm today.
