A mother from East Ham was selected to take part in one of the biggest fashion shows in Portugal.
Curvy model Lady Mya Amarise was strutting down catwalks, mingling with big name designers including Francis Cardoso and Yvonne Cardoso, and joining in traditional Madeiran celebrations at the Madeira Fashion Weekend (MFW).
The 38-year-old was hand-picked by international designer Atelier Dumebi Ruben Freitas to model a variety of big name brands and designs across the two-day event.
“I feel honoured to have been a part of MFW,” she said.
“It has given us plus size models a big breakthrough internationally not only as a model but being an ambassador for women in the UK and representing myself in the most respectful way with honour and dignity.
“I take pride in my work and being selected by international designers is a beautiful feeling.”
The UK Miss British Beauty Curve and former Miss Essex winner was given flights, hotel and dinners throughout her stay.
“I must say the respect and hospitality I received from Madeira was astonishing, I was treated more than a celebrity with so much respect,” she said.
Lady Mya, who is a size 14/16, has already been to America, Spain, Portugal and across the UK in her four year career.
“I work with passion, I forget I’m a plus size curvy model and I embrace my inner beauty and my soul,” she said.
