Charity workers in East Ham joined MPs to celebrate the work to help improve the lives of elderly people.
Staff from Bonny Downs Community Association in Vicarage Lane attended the event, which was hosted by the Lloyds TSB Foundation.
The Foundation has invested £3.8 million in charities that support older people, including those in financial difficulty.
Bonny Downs Community Association Assistant Coordinator Diana Laing-Wills said: “The event has been an excellent opportunity for charities and MPs to come together and talk about the work they are doing to support older people. The grant from the Foundation has been fundamental in helping us to continue and expand our vital work.”
The charity received a £50,000 grant over a two year period, which has been spent on the salary for a part-time assistant coordinator for the fit and healthy elders project.
