A young actress from East Ham will be showing off her stage skills in an upcoming show in Stratford.

Sara Lessore, 23, of Flanders Road, is a student at the nationally acclaimed arts college Rose Bruford in Sidcup, Kent, and for the first time she will be heading to Stratford Circus to perform as part of the university’s spring season.

Students will put together three performances and mum-of-one Sara will perform in The Low Road.

Sara said: “I’m really excited to be performing in my home town.

“I know the area really well and it feels great to be able to perform here.”

Sara said: “It’s challenging because I’ll be playing several different characters in the play, which will be a good experience.

“It is a very serious play but we’re really going to have fun with it.

“Rehearsals are going well, but it has been hard work. I am really looking forward to it as it is my last year at the college, which makes me feel very emotional.”

The college has also teamed up with award-winning director Anna Ledwich for their first performance Table.

The play tells the family of one family over a period of 200 years and journeys from Staffordshire at the turn of the century to the 21st century in south London.

Anna, who is a former student at Rose Bruford, said: “It is my first play to come to Stratford but I am very excited for it. Especially because that part of London is so iconic because of the Olympics.

“It’s going to be great to have a play performed there, also because the theatre itself looks amazing, it is so intimate.”

Anna added that this was the third play she had directed for the college.

She said: “I enjoy working with younger actors. It’s great because they are very enthusiastic, energetic, and they’re filled with ambition so I would encourage everybody to come and watch the next generation of great actors.”

Rose Bruford will be taking residency of Stratford Circus for the second year running from Friday to March 21.

It has been producing household names for more than 60 years. Gary Oldman (the Harry Potter series and Dark Knight), Lake Bell (Boston Legal) and EastEnders actress Maddy Hill have all developed their skills at the Sidcup campus.

Table will be performed on Friday and Saturday as well as March 2.

The Low Road will be performed between March 9 and 11.

Songs for a New World will be performed between March 19 and 21.

Tickets start from £5. Visit stratford-circus.com for information.
