Fire breaks out at block of maisonettes in Canning Town

Firefighters tackled a blaze that broke out at a block of maisonettes in the early hours of the morning.

Crews were called to the building in Rogers Road, Canning Town shortly after 12.30am to reports of a fire on the third floor.

It took around 25 firefighters and four engines around an hour and a half to get it under control.

Two people, who left the building before firefighters arrived, were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
