Young scholars donned gowns and mortar boards to celebrate their first graduation.

Rather more fresh-faced than most freshers, these primary pupils from across the borough celebrated their achievements at East London Children’s University’s ceremony late last month.

More than 50 children from Brampton, Central Park, Curwen, Keir Hardie, Plaistow and Manor Primary Schools received certificates before proud friends and family at the grand auditorium of the international law firm, Leighton Paisner LLP.

Basketball paralympian Ade Adepitan, Chancellor of East London Children’s University, sent his congratulations and urged children to “be proud in what you have achieved today, and most importantly enjoy the moment.”

The University was launched in February to encourage five to 14-year-olds to acquire new experiences and skills. Managed by charity 15billion-ebp, which provides careers information to students in East London, you can find out more at 15billionebp.org
