A LEGAL challenge against Newham Council’s approval for 120,000 flight movements a year, a 50 per cent increase on current agreements, at London City Airport is due to be launched at the Royal Courts of Justice today (Thursday).
Campaign group Fight the Flights and backed by Friends of the Earth will argue during the two-day hearing the council failed to take into account the government’s policy on climate change and aviation and failed to consult residents in Newham and neighbouring boroughs.
