Constituents will question general election candidates on issues affecting disabled and elderly commuters.
A meeting on April 15, organised by Newham Transport Action Group, will give people the chance to quiz East Ham Labour Party candidate Stephen Timms, East Ham Tory candidate Samir Jassal and West Ham Liberal Democrat candidate Paul Reynolds.
Campaigns officer Lianna Etkind said it will also cover other key issues.
“We want disabled and older people to have their voices heard,” she said. “We will be questioning them on health and social care, on benefits and on transport – all of these are really key to people being fully included in society.”
The group has seven demands for more accessible transport, including making it illegal for taxis to charge extra for wheelchair users and doubling funding to make train stations accessible.
And its BattleBus will set off from Brixton on Monday to provide information for London’s disabled and elderly voters.
The meeting is from 2pm-4.30pm at St Marks Community Centre, on Tollgate Road in Beckton.
