A herd of elephants are set to march into Westfield Stratford City as part of a four day virtual parade.

The digital animals will appear on the shopping centre’s billboard on Friday, March 24 in a pioneering global campaign by conservation charity Space for Giants.

The virtual herd will grow as it travels from Hong Kong to the Manchester Printworks via New York’s Times Square and Birmingham’s Grand Central Station as the charity receives more and more donations.

Corporate sponsors can sign up to have an elephant bearing their logo for £5,000 – the same cost of protecting an elephant for life in the wild – while individuals can name a baby elephant in Kenya for £5.

Max Graham, CEO of Space for Giants, said: “We’re racing to protect as many elephants as we can from both poaching and the loss of habitat.

“It’s a huge boost to have elephants at the centre of this innovative, brilliant campaign.”
