A crash involving three vehicles on the A13 Newham Way in Custom House is causing heavy delays to westbound motorists.
Police officers and ambulance crews were called to the junction with Tollgate Road just before 7am to a crash believed to have been between two cars and a motorbike.
One lane remains closed and queues are extending back beyond Marsh Way in Dagenham.
Drivers are advised to use other routes.
