A MAN and a woman have been accused of the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was found dead in a bath in a flat in Newham.

Eric Baikubi, 27, and a 27-year-old woman - both of Hathaway Crescent - are due before magistrates today.

The identity of the dead boy and the accused woman are not being released at this stage by officers to protect the identity of surviving siblings.

A post-mortem examination at East Ham mortuary yesterday failed to determine the exact cause of death and police are awaiting the results of further tests.

The man and a woman were both charged in the early hours of this morning, with murdering the boy at the eighth floor flat in Hathaway Crescent.

The boy, who was found in Hathaway Crescent, Manor Park, Newham, on Christmas Day, had suffered a “number of injuries”, police said.

The pair will appear before Stratford Magistrates, sitting at Thames Magistrates Court.

The Child Abuse Investigation Command are investigating the death. They took four children releated to the dead boy into their care for their own protection.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at about 12.15pm to reports a boy had drowned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were yesterday lunchtime granted extra time to question the two people who have now been charged.
