Youth rioter on bail
A 17-year-old admitted taking part in the London riots at Stratford Youth Court on Friday.
James Bolton-Smith, prosecuting, said the youth, who cannot be named, was part of a gang who forced their way into a shop in Masterman Road, East Ham, on August 10 where the shopkeeper defended himself with a cricket bat, chasing the intruders off the premises.
The teenager, who is on conditional bail for criminal damage, disorder and burglary, will be sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court on August 30.
