Officers seized several knives plus a “large quantity” of class A and class B drugs during a search of Stratford’s streets this morning.
A machete, flick knife, three other knives and personal items, such as wallets, were found by officers in “the E15 area” between 8am and 10am.
Sgt Daniel Benge and six officers from Stratford Police station accompanied a special search team comprising six officers and one sergeant for the operation.
Sgt Benge said the operation was part of a wider search taking place across Newham today.
He said: “It is something that we do quite often, especially in Safer Neighbourhoods, because obviously it is something the public ask for and it is important for us.”
