Police have released dramatic CCTV footage of an attempted murder in Plaistow in which a father-of-two was shot by a rain of bullets outside his home.

A £20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to identification, arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for attempted murder, which happened last year.

Police believe more than a dozen bullets were fired from a semi-automatic weapon as Mr Hussain left his flat and was confronted by two hooded males.

The men had been lying in wait in a nearby car.

The attack left Haroon Hussain, the 32-year-old victim, with life-changing injuries. As a result of the attack he struggles to walk, suffers epileptic fits, has short-term memory loss and has lost movement in his right hand.

Mr Hussain’s wife was the first person at the scene after the incident. Police and London Ambulance were then called to Beatrice Close at 11:17pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016, where they found him collapsed and rushed him to hospital.

Detective Sergeant Nick Hamer said: “The use of semi-automatic weapons like this on the streets of London is still rare, but that makes it all the more important we recover this weapon and remove it from the streets.

“Mr Hussain is a local businessman with a young family and a clear motive for the attack on him has never been established.

“The effects on him have been traumatic both physically and psychologically. In addition this has had a profound effect on his family. They have had to move out of their address due to this incident.”
