Newham detectives are appealing for help in identifying three men in connection with an attempted robbery.

On Tuesday, April 20 just before 9.30am three men entered a newsagent in Godwin Road, Forest Gate. Suspects 1 and 2 approached the victim who was behind the counter and dragged him to the middle of the store and held him down.

Suspect 3 then tried to take the till from behind the counter. Unsuccessful, all three attacked the victim on the floor before leaving the shop and heading off towards Ridley Road and then to Capel Road.

Police have viewed CCTV from the shop and want to identify the three men seen in the footage.

Suspect 1 (please quote reference 37196)is described as a black man, approximately 20-years-old, wearing a tight black t-shirt with a picture of white headphones around the neck and a CD player by the waist, grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Suspect 2 (please quote reference 37194) is described as a black man, about 20-years-old, with a chubby build, wearing a black Nike hooded top, with Nike written in gold in the middle and dark trousers.

Suspect 3 (please quote reference 37195) is described as a black man, aged around 20, with a chubby build, wearing a blue tracksuit with a green collar.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
