Police are questioning three rough sleepers who last night pitched their tent on war graves in Woodgrange Park Cemetery in Manor Park.
Cemetery superintendent Wayne Bufton called the police after two young men and a woman were discovered in their tent by a dog walker at around 9.30am.
Mr Bufton said the three people had been handcuffed and were being searched and questioned by officers.
He said this was the third time in two weeks that a tent had been removed from the 20-acre cemetery’s war graves area.
The latest incident came after Newham Police stepped up patrols in a bid to deter the trespassers.
