A man’s back was broken during a hate crime attack and robbery following the Pride in London parade.

The 49-year-old victim made his way to Stratford station after he was attacked while walking along Greek Street towards Tottenham Court Road at about 1.30am on July 8.

He fell to the ground after being struck in the back before his phone was stolen in the attack. Officers treated the man at Stratford station before he was rushed to hospital. He is still receiving treatment, according to police.

A police spokeswoman said: “Due to the offensive language heard by the victim, the incident is being treated as a hate crime.”

Detectives have trawled through CCTV footage in a bid to identify the suspects and want to hear from witnesses to the attack or anyone who helped him off the underground train at Stratford.

There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.
