The British Transport Police officer was left injured after being struck in the face when trying to quell a group of disorderly men.
The assault happened just after midnight at the Royal Victoria DLR station on July 23 and it left the officer with severe bruising.
Police have released a CCTV image of a suspect they want to identify in connection with an incident.
BTP PC Nick Coombes, investigating, said: “We would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image.”
He is believed to have a tattoo on his right forearm which reads ‘CALLUM’. He is approximately 25 – 30 years old and is possibly from the Basildon area.
Anyone who recognises the man or who has any information which may assist the investigation is asked to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 10 of 23/7/2010. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
