Police investigating the London Bridge terror attack arrested a man in Newham in the early hours of this morning.
Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, supported by the Territorial Support Group, carried out a warrant on a residential address in the borough at around 1.15am.
The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under Section 41 Terrorism Act 2000.
He has been taken into custody at a south London police station and detained under the Terrorism Act.
Searches of the property are ongoing.
The arrest comes days after two homes in East Ham – a flat in Barking Road and a house in Caledon Road – were searched as part of the investigation.
Eight people died when three terrorists drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge on Saturday night before stabbing people randomly in Borough Market.
