Eight others arrested in raids
A woman appeared in court yesterday in connection with an alleged �1 million immigration and benefit scam.
Ruth Nabaguzi, 48, of Church Road, Forest Gate is charged with three counts of assisting unlawful immigration and four counts of obtaining benefits by deception.
Nabaguzi has been remanded in custody to appear at Croydon Crown Court on October 5.
Eight people also arrested in connection with the alleged scam in raids at properties in Forest Gate by the UK Border Agency and Metropolitan Police Tuesday morning have now been released on bail pending further investigations.
