A 32-year-old Forest Gate man is among 10 people arrested in an investigation into a multi-million pound drug and cigarette smuggling operation.

Officers from HM Revenue & Customs officers are centring the probe on a Heathrow freight warehouse in west London.

All ten were interviewed and released on bail without charge until September 2012, pending further enquiries.

No names have been released.

During the operation six kilos of crystal amphetamine with an estimated street value of �180,000 and around �54,000 cash was seized along with a van, two HGV lorries, computers, mobile phones and business records.

John Cooper, HMRC’s Assistant Director for Criminal Investigation said:

“Operation Bypass is an HMRC-led investigation targeting those suspected to be involved in attempts to smuggle cigarettes and illegal drugs into the UK.
