A MAN described by mental health experts as ‘dangerous’ has walked free from court unescorted moments after a judge said he should be hospitalised.
Gary Pammen, 45, from Wall End Road, East Ham, was allowed to leave Snaresbrook Crown Court this morning without the normal escort of mental health staff.
Pammen admitted torching the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel in Audrey Road, Ilford during a service on August 17, 2008. He told the cowering congregation: “Mormons are going to hell.”
An investigation into how Pammen was allowed to walk away from court unescorted has been launched by the East London NHS Foundation Trust.
