A man has been arrested on suspicion of an acid attack that has left two people with life-changing injuries.

A woman who was celebrating her 21st birthday and her cousin were both injured by acid as they sat in their car at traffic lights in Tollgate Road, Beckton on Wednesday June 21.

Yesterday, a 24-year-old suspect handed himself at an east London police station and was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is still in custody and enquiries continue.
