Detectives investigating an alleged attempted rape in East Ham are appealing for help in tracing the victim.
Officers were called to Sherrard Road yesterday at around 2pm, where witnesses reported seeing a man exposing himself while sexually assaulting a woman. She screamed and ran away towards Green Street.
A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted rape and remains in custody at an east London police station.
Police are keen for the victim – described as a light-skinned black woman – to contact them in confidence on 07747 780 610, or 101.
Any witnesses are also asked to contact officers on the same numbers or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
