AN INQUEST was opened and adjourned into the death of a 15-year-old whose body was found in a bath in Manor Park on Christmas day.

Walthamstow Coroner Dr Elizabeth Stearns said identification of the boy had been made by his father.

Dr Stearns then asked Det Insp Paul Maddocks of the Child Abuse Investigation Command to give a summary of the police investigation and findings into the tragedy.

Det Insp Maddocks said: “At 12.15pm on Christmas Day police were called to an incident in Hathaway Crescent. On arrival at the scene the victim was receiving life support.

“At 1.09pm he was pronounced life extinct by the doctor at the scene. On December 27, pathologist Dr Chapman of East Ham Mortuary gave the provisional cause of death as drowning, head injuries and multiple bruising. Further tests are taking place. Two persons have been arrested and accused of murder and have been remanded in custody at the Old Bailey until March 8.”
