More details have emerged of the stabbing in Stratford this afternoon.

The 20-year-old victim, earlier reports suggested a younger boy, was stabbed outside the Docklands Light Railway station on the High Street at approximately 12.15pm this afternoon.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance five minutes later with what turned out to be non life-threatening injuries.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said: “On arrival police found a 20-year-old man suffering with stab injuries.

London Ambulance Service also attended the scene. The victim was taken to The Royal London hospital.

“The scene is expected to be closed off for another hour. Enquiries are still ongoing.”

Transport for London has shut the station in Stratford at 12.45pm and police have closed off one lane on the A11 High Street southbound at the Bridge Road junction.

In a later statement the police revealed that a man was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained for questioning at an east London police station.
